Hi!
Who am I?
I’m Romina, doctor in organic chemistry, scientist, trainer, instructional designer and overall lover of all things coffee. I’ve also been a microbiologist at a biotechnology company, a high school chemistry teacher for 4 years and a chemistry graduate at the University of Maryland.
While completing my Ph.D., life happened, and I had to take a break. It may have derailed my plans for a bit and forced me to find a way to pay for graduate school on my own, but it didn’t stop me! Instead, I started mentoring, creating organic chemistry materials, and gaining the strength to finish what I had started. I’m happy to say I PASSED my dissertation defense in 2021.
The journey was difficult, but I was able to complete my dream of becoming a doctor in chemistry while having amazing experiences, becoming a trainer that taught international scientists to instructing more than 400 students.
Perhaps, the work I am most proud of is that I turned a very difficult time in my life into a chance to help young women and men who had their own dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists pass chemistry. These gate keeping courses should never stop someone from following their calling. I still tutor students as well as working on instructional design and drinking coffee.
What do I believe?
I believe everyone can learn new skills/subjects. Through years of teaching and tutoring one-on-one, I’ve seen so many students conquer their chemistry courses and fears. Learning tough subjects can take extra effort and extra help. It is not about getting it immediately or about being perfect; it is about working up to mastery. Hard work, support, and persistence are what make for success stories in any subject.
Sometimes you need a new approach and some help. I will be a mini-professor at your side and you will make sure I have coffee(and rent, rent is important). Business can be cool like that; we all get something we need and benefit from by helping each other.
YOU ARE INTELLIGENT !! YOU CAN DO THIS!! But even the smartest people need help sometimes; no shame. That is where I can help those who are ready to work hard and learn.
We move toward IMPROVEMENT never perfection.
Why am I qualified?
Besides the higher-level chemistry courses I’ve taken as a graduate student, I’ve been teaching for more than 15 years.
It all started when I was a high school chemistry teacher for 4 years then I was a teaching assistant at the University of Maryland for 8 semesters. I’ve made quizzes, assigned homework, and created online homework questions!!! I’ve also taught 100s of organic lectures, and general chemistry lectures made questions for exams, created my own curriculum for an e-learning course, graded 100’s of organic exams, and graded 100’s of finals! I have an organic chemistry textbook memorized in my head.
If you need to learn how to learn science at the University level, I can help.
My range is from the standards of high school, the standardized testing protocols of professional schools, University teaching, and finally corporate instructional design work.
How will I help?
I will explain the topics in simple terms and patterns. I will show you the methods to quickly asses chemistry questions. This is how I make the process easier for my students. Then I support you with extra materials like worksheets, summaries, and practice exams. Also, I am more like a coach than a tutor. I will hold you accountable while finding your weaknesses and giving exercises to strengthen them. Train your brain!!
Make no mistake, at this point, I could teach most of these classes. I’ve covered the material so many times.

My goals (mission).
My goal is to become a professor and, more importantly, an educator and mentor. I want to see students succeed in the topic I love, chemistry! I’ve spent a lot of time learning how to teach and think like a professor, trainer, and a student. I can use all these experiences to help you learn and reach whatever grade goal you set.
